Travel Weekly’s inaugural Women in Travel Power List dinner took place at The Winery in Surry Hills, Sydney yesterday.
The dinner brought together some of the twenty remarkable women named in last year’s list.
Initiated by Yvette Thompson from Intrepid Travel, the event offered an informal yet spirited evening of networking, camaraderie, and celebration of female achievements in the travel sector. Thompson has long been committed to sustainable tourism and community engagement. Her vision for the Women in Travel Power List dinner was to create a relaxed setting that would spark conversations, generate ideas, and form new friendships.
A number of factors were considered to decide who would be on the list. This was:
1. Looking at the size and health of the organisation of which the woman is a part of;
2. The importance of the work that they do;
3. How their work has impacted and influenced the general workings/economics of our industry;
4. The arc of the woman’s career – how they have gotten to where they are today.
The event was attended by Toni Ambler, (TTC), Julie King (Julie King & Associates), Anne Wild (AW Associates), Kara Glamore (Carnival Cruise Line), Lou Tandy (APT), Jacqui Walshe (The Walshe Group) and Gai Tyrell.
