For those of you who watched Matt Agnew choose Chelsie McLeod on Thursday night’s finale of The Bachelor Australia, you may have noticed the episode had a distinct South African flavour to it.

Off the back of its success in 2014, South African Tourism (SAT) was approached to partner once again with 10’s reality TV show for the final episode of season number seven.

The partnership saw SAT host the cast and crew in South Africa, assist with permits, on-air activities, and partner with South African Airways to assist with flights and excess.

The finale of The Bachelor was filmed in Pilanesberg in the North West Province in South Africa, and featured three properties: Kwa-Maritane Bush Lodge (which is where the cast and crew stayed), Mhondoro Safari Lodge & Villa and Lush Private Lodge.

Buja Tours also featured in the finale episode, taking Matt and eventual winner Chelsea on a journey exploring South Africa’s native wildlife.

“Content integration is a key marketing strategy for us. It presents the destination in an engaging way, taking the audience on a journey and letting them experience the destination in a more authentic way than advertising,” an SAT spokesperson told Travel Weekly.

“And what bigger platform to do this than the finale of The Bachelor.”
