Instagram is one of the best platforms available for online marketing – once you know how to use it.

While we’re sure you’ve already jumped aboard the social media bandwagon with your agency, we could all use a few extra tips.

From how to hashtag, to sharing content that will boost your follower count and building relationships with Insta-influencers in the travel sphere, this handy guide will have you gramming like a pro on your journey to social media marketing stardom.

Story via blog.hootsuite.com.

Brand your Hashtags

…And not just with the company name.

Creating hashtags aligned with the overall ethos and lifestyle image of your brand and promoting their use to followers on social media is an effective marketing method that can expand and engage your brand audience, building customer loyalty and generating user-created content that markets your company for you.

The travel industry is perfect for this, as stunning photography increasingly shared on Instagram is an increasingly growing trend. And why not capitalise by getting your users to hashtag your travel brand in the content they’re already uploading?

So, be creative!

A good example of this? Flight Centre’s hashtag campaign, #openmyworld, that has generated over 80,000 image tags on Instagram alone, or Qantas’s #FeelsLikeHome.

Post Engaging Lifestyle Content

Sharing lifestyle content that represents your brand or company persona is another way to make the most of Instagram’s marketing potential.

The travel industry is geared with more than enough potential for this, and if you’re not making the most of it, you’re missing out.

Simply posting an enchanting photo of the sunrise you took on your walk to work this morning is enough to inspire wanderlust amongst your follower clients.

Connect with Instagram Influencers

Instagram is filled with users seeking to increase their own followings, so why not join forces and work together?

Building relationships with Instagram influencers within the travel community is a simple yet effective way to gain business exposure for your agency. Hello World did it earlier this year, getting 15 unique Insta-famous grammers onboard their hugely successful #helloworldrelay campaign and generating a huge amount of content in the first global Instagram relay.

The best part? It’s a win-win for influencers and your brand, and of course the followers that then learn about your valuable services and subscribe to them.

For example, exchanging a product for a giveaway or promotion can generate content and followers that markets your brand for you.
