An Australian Instagrammer claims to have been denied entry to the Louvre because her dress was too “revealing”.
Newsha Syeh, who has clocked up an impressive 247k followers, shared a series of stories in Instagram detailing the incident, according to Pedestrian.
Syeh said a guard made the “most disgusted and horrible gestures and facial expressions” at her.
“[He] swore at me to cover up, with hate-filled eyes, stopped me from entering. I was heartbroken because I thought the Louvre enforced this archaic rule. Turns out…it does not.”
Syeh told the Sun she had been to the museum before in a similar outfit with no issues.
“This was definitely a personal prejudice,” She said.
Despite having no formal dress code, the Louvre does specify that visitors may not wear swimwear, or be naked, bare-chested, or barefoot.
But in our opinion, the dress in question (pictured below) does not violate these standards at all.

Syeh also told the Sun she found it “ridiculous” to be offended by a dress at a gallery where the female form is celebrated.
“I think the way to respect art is to enjoy it with your soul, your clothing has nothing to do with it,” she said.
“And the female body is celebrated in art so much, it would be ridiculous to be offended by it while working at a gallery.
“We were welcomed warmly at Musée D’Orsay, so we were able to enjoy art the way we wanted to in the end!”
