The InterContinental Adelaide is setting a new benchmark in waste management after achieving a zero landfill standard a year ahead of schedule. Figures released show that no waste has gone into landfill over the past three months, with the hotel recycling 100% of its waste.
InterContinental Adelaide general manager, James Allen, said they were able to reach the target earlier than anticipated by establishing a realistic strategy and passing it down the line so that all staff changed the way they worked.
InterContinental Adelaide will continue to refine their green strategy and maintain a zero waste status. “It is one thing to achieve this target but maintaining it will be the next challenge for InterContinental Adelaide,” said Allen.
