InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef Resort has appointed five senior leaders, bringing together an experienced team to guide the resort into its next phase of growth and guest experience.
The appointments span every core sector of the resort’s operation.
Stewart Manson has been named as the new general manager, bringing 16 years of experience with IHG to the role. Most recently, he served as general manager at Crowne Plaza Queenstown, New Zealand where he led a high-performing team to strong commercial and guest experience results.
Kate Rodionova steps into the role of director of operations. Rodionova brings more than 15 years of luxury hospitality experience across globally recognised hotels and resorts. She joins the team from InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, where she worked as executive assistant manager, resort operations.
Grigory Rodionova will oversee the resort’s food and beverage operations across restaurants, bars, in-room dining and events as F&B manager. He brings an extensive international background across Europe, North America, the Maldives and Australia, with a focus on team development and operational excellence.
Wayne Weller has been appointed as executive housekeeper, with a diverse background spanning aviation and hospitality. After close to two decades with Qantas, he moved into hospitality via The Star Gold Coast, before joining Hayman as chief concierge and later facility operations manager, leading a 150-strong public area cleaning and laundry team.
Chantel Schroeder will lead HR at InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef Resort. Her background spans luxury hospitality at sea to high-performance culture in the Bowen Basin mining sector, with strong expertise in organisational transformation, talent strategy, employee relations and HR technology across remote operations.

General manager Stewart Manson said the strength and breadth of experience across the new team reflected the ambition Hayman holds for its future.
