Intrepid Travel and Korea Tourism Organisation teamed up to provide travel agents with an immersive opportunity to learn about South Korea and enjoy the country’s traditional dishes through an interactive cooking class.

With the burgeoning interest in Korea, Intrepid was eager to share what their fastest-growing destination has to offer.

Taking place earlier this month, the event was attended by 17 agents from Hello World and 15 agents from Flight Centre. The event featured engaging presentations from Charlie Riewoldt, representing Intrepid Travel, and Ryan Archibald from the Korea Tourism Office. Archibald, who previously lived in Seoul, shared first-hand knowledge of travelling in South Korea, from how to get around and the best time to go. Riewoldt spoke on Intrepid’s product range in South Korea and the different trip styles on offer to suit every type of client.

Riewoldt, key partnerships manager from Intrepid Travel, said: “We’re thrilled to collaborate with the Korea Tourism Office in offering this unique experience to travel agents. It’s always exciting sharing insights on new hotspot destinations, even more so when it includes an interactive cooking class!”

Agents had the opportunity to put their newfound knowledge into practice during a hands-on cooking class led by celebrity Korean chef Heather Jeong. Participants learned to prepare traditional dishes such as Buchujeon (Garlic-Chive Pancakes) and Beef Bulgogi (Fire meat), experiencing the flavours of South Korea firsthand.

Intrepid received glowing reviews from the travel agents in attendance. Renee Weppner, team leader at Flight Centre Northland, said “It was super informative and I learned some great insights about South Korea. I never knew South Korea enjoyed cherry blossom season, something I know my clients would love to know before booking.”

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the Korea Tourism Office set the mood with Korean Pop videos upon arrival. It introduced some South Korean games, adding an element of fun to the learning experience.
