Intrepid Travel is expanding its presence in Northern Europe with the opening of a new office in Copenhagen, marking another step in the company’s continued growth.
The new hub will oversee the launch of 23 small group tours across Northern Europe, with plans for further expansion, including the addition of eight new itineraries in 2026. Intrepid aims to double its customer numbers in the region to 8,000 over the next five years.
This growth is further supported by the appointment of Kristijan Švajnzger as the new Regional General Manager for East Europe, the Nordic region, and the Caucasus.
The office opening is part of Intrepid’s wider strategy to grow its operational presence in Europe, with six new offices planned over the next five years.
“Opening a hub in Copenhagen marks a pivotal moment for Intrepid and reflects our strong confidence in the region,” Intrepid, regional general manager East Europe, Nordic and Caucasus, Kristijan Švajnzger, said.
“Northern Europe is seeing incredible growth, fueled by the rise of ‘coolcations,’ growing interest in Nordic culture, breathtaking natural landscapes, and a strong commitment to sustainability. I’m excited to see our team take Intrepid’s presence in the region to the next level. At Intrepid, it’s not just about growing our community, it’s about creating more meaningful opportunities for cultural connection and exchange.”
EMEA managing director Zina Bencheikh said she was delighted to be opening its first office in Scandinavia.
“There is huge potential for Intrepid to grow in Europe and expanding our country offices gives us an exciting opportunity to expand our product range and purpose activity in the region,” she said.
Intrepid is expanding its global footprint with leadership appointments to drive sustainable growth, including appointing Australian Leigh Barnes as to President of the Americas and appointing London-based Hazel McGuire as CMO.
In November 2024, Inga Rós Antoníusdóttir was appointed GM for North Europe, overseeing operations at the new Copenhagen hub. The company is also enhancing its leadership team to support its goal of 600,000 travellers by 2030. The company said the changes underline its focus on strengthening operations and advancing responsible tourism.
