Intrepid Travel, has been named Major Tour and Transport Operator at the 2025 Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards, recognised at Saturday night’s gala event at the Darwin Convention Centre.
The Brolga Awards are the Northern Territory’s official tourism awards, celebrating outstanding contributions to the visitor economy across 28 categories. This year’s awards attracted 65 entries, with 22 category winners, including Intrepid now set to represent the Territory at the 2025 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Fremantle in March 2026.
Accepting the award on Intrepid’s behalf, Annette Sharp, Intrepid’s Global Social Impact Manager said: “This award celebrates the spirit of adventure and the breathtaking beauty of the Northern Territory, and reflects our deepening relationship with the NT. We love connecting our customers with culture and wonderful people and the extraordinary landscapes that make this region so unforgettable.”
Brett Mitchell, Intrepid’s Managing Director ANZ, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be recognised as the NT’s leading tour and transport operator. The Territory is where Intrepid’s purpose comes to life, through experiences that connect travellers with Country, community and culture. Our growing partnerships and investments here are designed to create long-term benefits for local people and the environment.”
A long-term commitment to the Territory
The Northern Territory has been part of Intrepid’s story since 1994 and remains central to its domestic operations. With local teams based in Darwin and Alice Springs, Intrepid runs year-round small group adventures across the Red Centre and Top End, co-designed with communities to connect travellers with Country, culture and the people who bring the Territory to life. Intrepid’s partnerships with First Nations-owned businesses and local leaders have helped grow meaningful, low-impact tourism in the region. In FY25, passenger numbers in the NT rose 34% year-on-year, with traveller satisfaction (NPS) climbing to 80 – world class.
Partnerships creating local impact
Intrepid has deepened its commitment to the NT through several new ventures and partnerships, including a collaboration with the Yalka Ratara Aboriginal Corporation to develop Yalka Eco Stays – an exclusive glamping experience in Finke Gorge National Park/Palm Valley that launched in July. The partnership offers travellers access to eight sustainable, air-conditioned tents with ensuites, guided by Traditional Owners designed to create local employment and deliver lasting economic benefits for the Arrernte community.
Ongoing investment in regional employment, sustainability initiatives and First Nations tourism development as part of Intrepid’s Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan.
The Brolga win adds to a growing list of accolades for Intrepid’s domestic operations. Intrepid has entered the Unique Accommodation category at the upcoming QTIC Queensland Tourism Awards for Daintree Ecolodge.
