Apple’s latest ‘Shot on iPhone Challenge’ reveals the best photography in the Apple community, showcasing the creative power of smartphones in the digital age.
Here’s Travel Weekly’s personal favourites from the top 10, which can be viewed in full on Apple’s official release by clicking here.

The winning shots came from a range of models, from iPhone XS Max to iPhone 7, and were critiqued by an international panel of judges. Alex Jiang’s shot won best overall for its composition, colour and sense of story.

With its latest challenge, Apple has shown what the iPhone is creatively capable of, and truly sets the bar on the possibilities of mobile travel-photography.

Prejudice surrounding the use of smartphones for photography is slowly dissipating, with motion-pictures like Tangerine (directed by Sean Baker) and Steven Soderbergh’s horror-thriller Unsane filmed entirely on iPhones, as the technology shows its capabilities as a creative tool.

The smartphone photography movement has shown that one of the only limitations to this technology is creativity.

Never in the history of photography has it been easier to capture images on-the-go, point-and-shoot: in the moment, as it happens, in high-definition.
