PSA: we might’ve just found the coolest hotel in the world.
Or is it a cruise ship? Who knows.
According to their website, “Wayaland is a new offshore living experience. A self sustainable community, built around the human on the water.”
We don’t really know what that means, but we sure are excited about it.
Created by Italian company Lazzarini Design, Waya is inspired by the architecture of the Mayan people, as well as Japanese temples – resulting in an utterly unique experience and design. And it’s not even built yet.
The website is currently crowdfunding to get the modular pyramids completed in 2022 – and they have a pretty kicks video to go with it.
Waya will offer different living and entertainment areas, and aim to include hotels, shops, spas, gyms, bars and cinemas, all in Wayaland.
But how on earth will it work, you ask?
The main pyramid (pictured above) different modules will overlap on a floating basement. On the lower level you’ll find an entrance big enough for boats as well as a reception for access to rooms.
“Wayaland is a new offshore living experience. A self-sustainable community built around the idea of humans on the water,” designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini told Lonely Planet.
And those little floating pyramids? Suites.
The first suite will cost over $400,000 to make – and crowdfunders can pre-order a night at around $1200 per night.
Plus, if you contribute to the Waya project, you’ll be able to have a vote on where the first module is located! Contributors also become a ‘citizen of Wayaland’ and get a Waya passport.
We know what we’re saving up for now.
