Jetstar has apologised after passengers faced significant delays on Saturday following a nationwide technical outage that disrupted the airline’s check-in and boarding systems.

The carrier confirmed the issue just before 2 pm in response to a post on ‘X’ from a customer who reported being unable to check in for their flight.

“Hi there, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this caused,” the post read.

“Jetstar is currently experiencing some technical difficulties with our system at the moment. Our team is working hard to get this fixed as to get customers on their way as soon as possible,” the airline wrote in a comment.

“If there’s anything else you need help with, please feel free to send us a DM to see what we can do to assist.”

Passengers also reported similar check-in issues at airports in Bali and Japan.

In a statement issued later on Saturday, a Jetstar spokeswoman confirmed the IT issue had been resolved after approximately three hours.

“Our operations are returning to normal however there may still be some flow on impacts to flights today,” the spokeswoman said.

“We thank customers for their patience and understanding and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

A Jetstar statement to Travel Weekly this morning confirmed operations have returned to normal.
