JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa has appointed Laura Wiersma as director of marketing and Tushar Gupta as director of finance, both bringing extensive international experience in luxury hospitality and a proven track record of leadership and operational excellence.
The appointments mark an important step in the resort’s continued evolution as one of Australia’s premier luxury destinations, with both leaders playing key roles in shaping the resort’s strategy, performance and guest experience.
Laura Wiersma joined JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa as director of marketing on 14 January 2026. In her role, Wiersma leads the resort’s marketing strategy, brand positioning, integrated campaigns, and media engagement. She aims to shape initiatives that celebrate the resort’s distinctive sense of place while curating meaningful guest experiences for both domestic and international travellers. Her work focuses on bringing the JW Marriott philosophy of mindful hospitality to life, elevating the resort’s presence while deepening connections between guests and the destination.
Previously, Wiersma served as cluster director of marketing at Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park and Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, where she led multi-property marketing strategies, managed budgets and partnerships, and delivered campaigns that strengthened brand presence. Her appointment also represents a full-circle moment, returning to the resort where she began her hospitality career in 2016 as a food and beverage attendant at Citrique, the resort’s signature seafood and grill restaurant.

Tushar Gupta joined the resort as director of finance on 20 November 2025, overseeing financial strategy, operational controls, reporting, and performance management. In close partnership with the general manager and leadership team, Tushar delivers strategic financial insights that support business growth and ensure the long-term sustainability of the resort’s operations.
With more than 15 years of international hospitality finance experience, Tushar has held senior leadership roles across India, United Arab Emirates, and Fiji, including director of finance at Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay and key finance positions at JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu, Renaissance Downtown Dubai, St. Regis Dubai and JW Marriott Chandigarh, India. His global background and strong operational expertise bring valuable depth and perspective to his leadership at the Gold Coast resort.

“We are delighted to welcome Laura and Tushar to the resort’s leadership team. Laura’s strategic marketing vision will elevate the resort’s branding and guest experiences, while Tushar’s strategic financial leadership will strengthen the resorts financial and operational performances,” JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa general manager Ravinder Dhesi said.
“Together, they will play a key role in the resort’s next chapter of excellence for all stakeholders.”
These appointments mark an exciting new chapter for JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa as it continues to solidify its position as one of Australia’s most celebrated luxury resorts.
