King Island’s off-grid retreat, Kittawa Lodge off the coast of Tasmania, has opened its new two-bedroom accommodation, Kittawa Retreat, and announced the return of an exclusive Guest Chef Series in May/June and July/August.

Rosheen Kaul, former head chef of Etta, Gourmet Traveller’s Victorian Restaurant of the Year and columnist at Good Food and the Guardian, is just one of the culinary talents to head to King Island for a series of intimate, chef-curated dining experiences.

The new two-bedroom Kittawa Retreat has been designed for shared escapes without compromising on privacy, expanding Kittawa Lodge’s offering to family and friend groups, or couples who simply want to enjoy the extra space. The Kittawa Retreat offers the same refined luxury as the two existing one-bedroom Lodges and amplifies the guest experience with additional features, including:

  • Secluded outdoor seating area and hot tub –with panoramic ocean views, creating the perfect setting for relaxation under the vast island skies.
  • Private cellar – stocked with an extensive selection of fine wines, and spirits, a library and games.
  • Versatile luxury accommodation – ideal for two couples, friend groups or families, as well as discerning travellers seeking the ultimate in space and exclusivity, the Kittawa Retreat offers flexible luxury. Each bedroom features a king-sized bed and seating area, with the option to convert the second bedroom into twin singles if required.
  • Tailored, bespoke experiences – including private four-course dinners, guided yoga and meditation sessions, and indulgent massages.

Uniquely Tasmanian

Kittawa Lodge owners Aaron Suine and Nick Stead are excited to unveil Kittawa Retreat, elevating their signature approach to seclusion and service.

“Our vision for Kittawa Retreat was to create an experience that feels both deeply personal and uniquely Tasmanian. Every detail, from the curated artwork to the plush, layered interiors, has been designed to immerse guests in comfort, beauty, and the raw natural splendour of King Island,” they said.

Set on 39 hectares of untouched coastal landscape, Kittawa Lodge invites guests to experience the wild beauty of King Island – located between Tasmania and mainland Australia – offering dramatic seascapes to windswept dunes. The new Kittawa Retreat adds to the already two one-bedroom lodges on the property, which have been designed to maximise natural light and a connection to the outdoors, whilst still offering complete privacy.

Inside, each lodge features floor-to-ceiling windows, framing breathtaking coastal views, and bespoke interiors, hand-crafted furniture, premium Cultiver linens, and a designer European wood-burning fireplace. Bathrooms are fitted with rain showers and deep soaking tubs, and a fully equipped designer kitchen allows guests to enjoy the finest King Island produce in their own space, at their own pace.

Kittawa Lodge Guest Chef Series

July/August will see the return of Kittawa Lodge’s ‘Guest Chef Series’ – three-night culinary escapes, which each blend luxury, adventure and world-class dining in the heart of Tasmania’s wild beauty.

The Kittawa Lodge Guest Chef Series takes places on Wednesday, July 30-Saturday, 2 August and Saturday, 2 August-Tuesday, 5 August. Hosted by chef Rosheen Kaul, the two three-night packages are available for up to eight guests, perfect for one group of friends, a family or separate parties taking up each of the three accommodations.

Guests will indulge in a menu showcasing King Island’s premium local produce. Guests will enjoy daily breakfasts, gourmet picnics and intimate dinners in each guest’s private lodge, paired with premium Tasmanian wines. Signature Kittawa Lodge snacks will be available as well as a curated selection of local wines, cocktails, and spirits, and an AWD vehicle for island exploration complete this exclusive experience.

The new two-bedroom Kittawa Retreat is priced from $2,350 per night for two guests, inclusive of premium breakfast provisions, lunches, dinner provisions, and snacks, with additional guests at $350 per person per night. A minimum two-night stay applies.

Also, Kittawa Retreat is fully accessible, with one bedroom and bathroom allowing guests with accessibility requirements the opportunity to indulge in luxurious surroundings with comfort and confidence.
