A vibrant Super Mario collaboration featuring themed Shinkansen trains, decorated stations and interactive stamp rallies are offered as part of Kyushu, Japan enhancing its rail travel in 2026.

The initiative is part of a series of island‑wide activations which invite visitors to rediscover the region through the immersive GO QUEST campaign across Saga and Nagasaki, as well as the Super Mario collaboration.

Together, these initiatives celebrate the culture, charm and connectivity of Kyushu while offering travellers playful, memorable and uniquely local experiences.

Super Mario x JR Kyushu Let’s go Kyushu!

A collaboration between Nintendo’s Super Mario and JR Kyushu until 30 June, will include Super Mario themed trains, station takeovers, pop-up stores and activations at six key stations plus capsule toy machines containing original collectible pin badges that will be installed inside the Series 885 cars.

The main attractions will be the Super Mario Trains, featuring two wrapped Shinkansen trains and one wrapped limited express train, in addition to 22 Super Mario Stations spread across Kyushu featuring special decorations.

Eight stations in particular (Hakata, Kokura, Saga, Nagasaki, Oita, Kumamoto, Kagoshima Chuo and Miyazaki) will feature special Super Mario photo panels. The JR Kyushu app will feature a special digital stamp rally throughout the campaign, whilst the Nintendo Store app will also offer exclusive wallpapers available only at eight designated stations.

GO QUEST: Discover Saga and Nagasaki

GO QUEST is a regional tourism campaign, running until 31 March, that encourages travellers to explore the cultural treasures found in Saga and Nagasaki prefectures.

From pottery and sake to hot springs and scenic rail rides, GO QUEST offers curated experiences along the West Kyushu Shinkansen bullet train route.

The GO QUEST campaign is part of GO WEST 3, a promotional campaign celebration the third anniversary of the opening of the West Kyushu Shinkansen Line.

Key activations include the Saga-Nagasaki Mystery Stamp Rally: solve puzzles found in pamphlets to collect multiple stamps for rewards and prizes, including regional produce and luxury accommodation packages.
