LATAM Airlines has launched daily non-stop services from Melbourne to Santiago in a move to strengthen its commitment to the Australian market and cement its position as a leading gateway for Aussies to South America.

With daily departures available from Melbourne to Chile, LATAM provides greater choice, flexibility and convenience for both leisure and corporate travellers, connecting Australians seamlessly to its extensive South American network of over 153 destinations across Chile, Peru, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and beyond.

LATAM’s Business Class cabin, known as Premium Business, has recently been reimagined, to deliver an elevated long-haul experience inspired by South America’s identity. Passengers flying Premium Business can expect personalised onboard service, quality dining and beverages and premium design elements. The amenity kits feature cosmetics by Costa Brazil, a brand renowned for its sustainable focus and inspiration drawn from the natural resources of the Amazon. This creates an authentically Latin American Premium Business journey.

Looking ahead, LATAM has also announced the introduction of its new Premium Economy cabin, Premium Comfort, on select long-haul routes, including Melbourne to Santiago, from 2027. Positioned between Business and Economy, the new offering features wider seats, greater privacy and upgraded onboard amenities, further elevating the long-haul travel experience. Premium Comfort tickets will be available for purchase from late 2026.

LATAM is also progressing the rollout of onboard Wi-Fi across its widebody fleet, with connectivity now available on long-haul aircraft and soon to be implemented on the Melbourne to Santiago route. This allows for passengers to stay connected throughout their journey and to enjoy messaging services initially, with broader internet access expanding over time as the rollout continues

The Melbourne to Santiago service offers smooth onward connections to some of South America’s most sought-after destinations, including Buenos Aires and Ecuador, via LATAM’s regional and long-haul network. Designed with connectivity in mind, LATAM’s flight schedules continue to support same-day connections, reinforcing Melbourne’s role as a key entry point to the continent.

All flights are operated using LATAM’s modern Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet, designed for long-haul efficiency and passenger comfort. A true South American experience begins onboard for Australian travellers, with menus by emerging female chefs across the region and a wine list curated by Latin America’s only Master Sommelier, Hector Vergara.
