LATAM on a high

Sydney’s loftiest entertainment space was last night the scene of fledgling carrier LATAM’s Oceania launch. Guests were treated to panoramic views and South American inspired canapés at Sydney Tower’s top floor Studio as the airline provided an update to assorted media and VIPs.

With the merger between South American carriers TAM and LAN formalised, LATAM has rolled out new aircraft livery and staff uniforms, which were on show in Australia for the first time. The refreshed LATAM uniforms were created by the celebrated Brazilian fashion designer, Pedro Lourenço, featuring the signature indigo and coral of the LATAM logo and were designed to express the diversity and beauty of Latin America.

In another first for the carrier, yesterday morning saw the arrival in Brasilia of a flight from Geneva bearing the Olympic torch ahead of this year’s Rio Olympic and Paralympic games. LATAM is the official airline supporter of the games.

“We are celebrating a unique moment. We are celebrating the dream of two leading airlines – LAN and TAM, coming together as one for an incredible new journey as LATAM Airlines. Oceania continues to be an important market for us and we look forward to seeing our new brand here before the end of the year,” Patricio Aylwin, Managing Director Asia Pacific for LATAM said.

By the end of the year the carrier anticipates over 50 aircraft will have been rebranded, with the fleet-wide process to be concluded by 2018.

Elsewhere, the carrier will commence operations on a Sao Paulo to Johannesburg route from October.

LATAM offers daily flights from Sydney to Santiago, Chile, the gateway to South America, onboard its fleet of 787-9 aircraft, with onward connections to over 137 destinations in Latin America.
