This week, Club Med’s head of sales for Australia and New Zealand got our attention by sending us photos of himself posing in front of a well-stocked wine rack.
What are you reading?
Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss.
What are you watching?
Season three of Ozark.
What are you listening to?
Bill Withers. So sad he passed away earlier this year, but his music will live forever.
What are you cooking?
Slow-cooked beef stroganoff. The joy of working from home means you can keep an eye on your cooking throughout the day, giving you an excuse to stand up and get out of the home office.
How are you staying fit both physically and mentally?
Dressing for work while working from home, starting and finishing at regular times, and not eating lunch at my desk.
What’s the one thing keeping you sane?
Team catch-ups on Zoom/Microsoft Teams.
What’s something positive you’ve witnessed or experienced since the coronavirus hit?
Great to see TAFEs and other educational institutions doing free courses for anyone wanting to freshen their skills or learn something new!
What have you learned about yourself amid the crisis?
I have learnt that I have taken the way we live and work for granted, and in the end, as long as you’re healthy, have a good support network, and a roof over your head, you can achieve anything.
What’s your advice for others in the travel industry on coping with the crisis?
Use the downtime if you’ve been stood down, or on reduced hours, to learn as many skills as you can, as there’s going to be a lot of good, talented people out there looking for work. You may think travel is all you know, but you’ll be amazed at how the skills you’ve learnt in this industry will carry over to anything you want to do.
