This week, Globus Family of Brands’ regional head of marketing made us a mixtape of the 90s dance music that has been seeing him through the global pandemic.

What are you reading?

I am more of an online article reader. Currently reading anything business related to the pandemic and different views on how to navigate through the crisis from a marketing standpoint.

What are you watching?

As I am homeschooling my kids, I’m watching Reading Eggs and Mathletics! I am very jealous of everyone engrossed in the various new TV series on Netflix and Stan.

What are you listening to?

I have reverted to 90s and early 2000s dance music – taking me back to my youth.

What are you cooking?

Massive fail here! I know a lot of people are embracing cooking… I, on the other hand, am embracing wine.

How are you staying fit both physically and mentally?

I am trying to get as much fresh air as I can – going on more bike rides and runs to try and keep fit. Mentally, I’m keeping in touch regularly with my amazing colleagues via Microsoft Teams and Zoom and making sure we still laugh a lot.

What’s the one thing keeping you sane?

Comedy! Very important to have a laugh right now.

What’s something positive you’ve witnessed or experienced since the coronavirus hit?

Generally, I have really seen an improvement in people and their outlook on life. I have noticed people embracing a more positive attitude and compassionate approach, both with their interactions with others and their environment, which I think is a huge positive to come out of this crazy situation.

What have you learned about yourself amid the crisis?

I am used to rushing through life, so during this time, I have learned to look at family and friends from a different perspective. This time has also taught me that it’s okay to slow things down a bit.

What’s your advice for others in the travel industry on coping with the crisis?

It is difficult, but I believe it’s important to stay positive and pivot. Look at your business and how you can adapt and grow with this new world.

It is a cliché, but there are always opportunities in times of crisis; opportunities to plan, develop and grow. Plan now for when the business returns because it will, and when it does, there will be a lot of pent up demand for travel.
