The Travel Corporation (TTC) has announced that Contiki Australia boss Katrina Barry will take on a new role as managing director of Trafalgar and Costsaver.
Barry, who topped Travel Weekly‘s Women in Travel Power List in 2019, as well as being named the Mentor of the Year at last year’s Women in Travel Awards, will switch brands upon her return from maternity leave in mid-August.
She will replace Jason Wolff, who is leaving the travel industry after making a personal decision to return with his family to Brisbane.
Commenting on his departure, Wolff said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Trafalgar and would like to thank TTC for giving me this wonderful opportunity.
“I’ve decided to take on a role that will provide the best balance for myself and my family back in Queensland.”
Gavin Tollman, CEO of Trafalgar and Costsaver, said: “Our team in Australia and around the world will miss Jason. During his time with us, he has made a large contribution and ensured we have laid a solid foundation for a prosperous future in what will be a trying time.
“We thank him and wish him and his family all the very best as they return to a quality life back home in Brisbane.”
Tollman said Barry will harness the strength of her vast knowledge, vision and enthusiasm for the opportunities that await during what is “a time of immense change”.
“Her actions will have a hugely positive impact for ours and our agent partners’ businesses,” he said.
Barry, who has been with Contiki since 2014, said: “I’m delighted to join Trafalgar. As the industry evolves during this dynamic time, I look forward to working with our valued trade partners to redefine travel and ensure that together we make travel matter.”
TTC director David Hosking and Contiki’s recently appointed global CEO, Adam Armstrong, will be starting in the Sydney office on Monday, where they will begin working together on the leadership restructure of Contiki.
