New research has revealed that 20 per cent of travellers have found love while on a Contiki tour!

Just in time for Valentine’s day, the youth travel company surveyed young Australians to find out their attitudes towards love and dating in 2019, revealing that travelling with the tour company could lead to long-lasting love.

True romantics will be heartened to hear that 42 per cent of those relationships are long lasting with many pairings resulting in marriages and children! If love is a numbers game, then these odds are tipped pretty favourably with 8 per cent of all Contiki travellers finding lasting love on Contiki.

The survey also revealed that despite millennials getting a bad rap for changing the face of traditional relationships (and despite 55 per cent being single), romance isn’t dead – 90 per cent still believe in it.

Even though only 39 per cent identified as in a committed relationship, 56 per cent said they planned to celebrate Valentine’s day this year.

Florence

Romantics at heart, 27 per cent of young Aussie’s thought that the classic Dinner and a Movie was the best way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, while 22 per cent of respondents dreamed bigger – stating the ideal romantic gesture would be getting on a plane and travelling somewhere new.

The romance game has changed for the younger generation though – with a whopping 24 per cent meeting through online dating apps. A further 17 per cent met through school or uni and 11 per cent meet through travel generally or through a friend. However, not everyone was in a rush to be coupled up with 22 per cent of respondents proclaiming themselves happily single.

One thing has stayed the same – Paris is still considered the city of love – 26 per cent stated it as the most romantic destination. The next romantic destination to watch? Italy! From Venice to Florence, Verona, Positano, Amalfi & Rome, 14 per cent of young Aussie’s tipped it for an in-depth romantic getaway.

They say travel can make or break a couple, but 43 per cent were willing to put that to the test picking their partner as their ideal travel companion. A further 28 per cent would pick their best friend and a smaller 19 per cent would rather travel solo.

If your clients are in the mood for love, perhaps a Contiki tour could point them in the right direction.
