A man has confessed to calling in a fake bomb threat because he hoped it would score him a date with a flight attendant.

Yes, you read that correctly, and yes, it is probably the creepiest thing you’ll read all day.

A 65-year-old Serbian man told a court on Saturday that he called in the threat to prevent a flight attendant from leaving the country so he could ask her on a date, according to Reuters.

The man’s call led to the evacuation of 130 passengers and five crew members from a Lufthansa flight en route from Belgrade to Frankfurt on Thursday, as the plane had to be removed from the runway so it could be searched.

The man said he had met two flight attendants and invited them for dinner but was rejected. He tried to locate one of the women at her hotel but was unsuccessful and called in the bomb threat as a last shot at stopping her from leaving, which is actually the most bonkers reason for prompting a terrorism threat we’ve ever read.

Police were able to trace the call and the man was arrested.

Prosecutors reportedly asked the court to keep the man in custody, pending charges of causing panic and disorder and probably to stop him from causing any further havoc at another major airport.
