Marriott to implement minimum wage bump earlier than expected

Marriott International has brought forward the Fair Work Commission’s mandated 4.6 per cent wage increase for workers on award wages and will apply the increase from 1 July.

The increase is set for 1 October for the hospitality industry.

Marriott International employs 3,300 associates across Australia and will apply the 4.6 per cent increase to 2,500 associates from 1 July.

“We are applying the increase for all workers on awards wages from 1 July, meaning that Associates who receive award wages above $869.60 per week will receive a 4.6 per cent increase while those who earn below $869.60 per week will receive a $40 per week increase. The increase will apply to 2,500 of our associates.”

Marriott is currently recruiting for 400 positions across Australia covering a range of categories from food and beverage, guest services, reservations, housekeeping and spa to engineering, administration, marketing and finance and more. All the vacant positions that equate to award wages will be eligible for the 4.6 per cent increase from 1 July.
