Marriott International has signed an agreement to operate Sydney Marriott Hotel Parramatta, a 279-bed five-star hotel which slated to open in the Western Sydney CBD in 2027.

Marriott International signed the agreement with property developers JQZ to operate the new build premium hotel in Church Street as part of a mixed-use development. The project was initially planned as a fully residential block. It will be the fifth Marriott Hotels & Resorts property in Australia, and the second in NSW. It will join other high-end accommodation being developed in the area, including the InterContinental and QT hotels.

“The signing of Sydney Marriott Hotel Parramatta marks Marriott Hotel’s debut in Parramatta, a city experiencing significant public and private investment as it evolves into Sydney’s second CBD,” Marriott International Vice President – Developments, ANZP, Richard Crawford, said.

“With strong demand drivers across commerce, technology, education, and the arts, Parramatta is a strategic location for Marriott’s expansion. We are very confident that a Marriott Hotel, with its legacy of Wonderful Hospitality, offering the benefits of a full-service international hotel, will have excellent prospects of long-term success.”

The new Sydney Marriott Hotel Parramatta is expected to feature an M Club Lounge, a restaurant, a café, a lobby lounge, a rooftop swimming pool and pool bar, a fitness centre, plus extensive function and meeting facilities, offering world class facilities for both business and leisure stays.

Sydney Marriott Hotel Parramatta will be the centrepiece of a large-scale mixed-use project, set to also include residential apartments, alongside retail and commercial tenancies, with construction already underway.

Major infrastructure projects including the WestConnex, Parramatta Light Rail, The Metro West rail line, and Western Sydney Airport (WSI) will support significant population and employment growth in the coming decade, which are expected to substantially increase demand for hotel room nights in Parramatta.

“Bringing the first Marriott Hotel to Parramatta is a profound milestone for JQZ as we expand our portfolio and diversify our assets into the hospitality sector,” JQZ chairman Jianqiu Zhang said.

“Marriott’s legacy of excellence and commitment to service deeply aligns with JQZ’s core values of creating spaces that inspire connection and belonging, and their principles of integrity, inclusivity, and community-first hospitality resonate strongly our JQZ’s vision.

“Our collaboration with Marriott International represents a bold step towards positioning Parramatta on the global stage, and our shared dedication to elevating experiences servicing the needs of our local community and international travellers.”

Marriott International director Hotel Development – ANZP, Tristan Cooper, said it was exciting to enter the Parramatta market.

“We are thrilled to do so in partnership with JQZ through delivering our globally recognized Marriott brand,” he said. “We look forward to offering a distinct point of difference to the city’s hotel scene, and elevating its growing and vibrant skyline, with the expected opening of the Sydney Marriott Hotel Parramatta, in mid-2027.”
