Mayvin Global expands to the Northern Territory

Business events and tourism consultancy Mayvin Global has committed to servicing the Northern Territory in the face of COVID-19 by opening a new office in Darwin.

With offices already in Sydney and the Gold Coast, Mayvin Global founder and managing director Deanna Varga decided to act upon the opportunity to open a third location in the Top End of the NT and employing a team of two local staff, while most other companies are downsizing to survive the pandemic.

It’s not Mayvin Global’s first rodeo in the Northern Territory, having recently completed industry enhancement workshops in Darwin, Alice Springs and Uluru for Northern Territory Business Events, as well as an international conference bidding process for the Darwin Convention Centre.

“Opening an office during COVID-19 might seem like going against the grain,” Varga said.

“However, after the experience of our recent projects, undertaking multiple visits to Uluru, Darwin and Alice Springs and having had several meetings with NT representatives, I knew this was a risk worth taking.

“The opening of the Darwin office is a great chance for us to show real commitment to the region – one I’m passionate about – by providing ‘boots on the ground’ to work across tourism, business events, associations and the arts.”

Mayvin Global’s Darwin team is led by Kathryn Duell (pictured above, left) as Northern Territory manager, who is flanked by Tamara Williams (pictured above, right) and Sydney-based Tania Sissaguian.

Peter Savoff, general manager at Darwin Convention Centre, welcomed the opening of the consultancy’s new office.

“This is great news for our region, and I applaud Mayvin Global for taking this risk during a time when so many businesses are holding tight or retracting,” he said.

“Even as we battle through the realities of living with COVID-19, we have work to do.

“Combining our record for hosting successful conventions and conferences with the unique qualities of the NT as a tourist destination, I look forward to what will be possible when we collaborate with businesses like this.”
