The general manager of Jucy Australia takes some time to talk values, vision and not sweating the small stuff.

The challenge for the industry is… staying relevant in this competitive industry and keeping your product in the forefront of the minds of your target market.

The things I like about my job… the JUCY brand values and the vision that the owners have for the company. It’s a privilege to be a part of.

And the frustrations are … so many opportunities, where should we take JUCY next!?

If I didn’t work in travel I would be… always looking for excuses to travel.

Favourite airline? Air New Zealand. As a kiwi, I am biased, but international awards frequently back me up!

My proudest moment was… opening the first JUCY Hotel (now called JUCY Snooze) in Auckland City in 2010

I try to relax by… enjoying some good wine and some bad reality TV

The last time I feared for my life was… flying out of Cuba into a tropical cyclone on board a very old ex-Russian commercial plane. Pieces were falling off the interior, so of course we wondered what was falling off the exterior!

If I can, I always try to avoid… travelling with bags. It makes the whole airport experience so much more streamlined.

I really wish I had… studied Mandarin at school. Not that it was available at the time, but becoming more and more useful in the tourism industry.

The best advice I’ve ever received was… from my mother “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”

I don’t understand why people… sweat the small stuff. There is always a solution, and life’s too short to dwell on small details.

My greatest weakness is… white chocolate.

And my greatest strength is… the unconditional support I get from my extended family.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would… buy a big boat, and throw a party for all my friends and family

If I was prime minister I would… struggle with the constant negativity towards change. There is always someone to disagree with the decisions you make as leader of a country.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be… a part of Vincent Chase’s Entourage

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Nepal and Everest base camp

My favourite holiday was… a three week skiing road trip around British Columbia in an old ford bronco with my girlfriend (it went so well she is now my wife).
