We chat to the regional director Australia for Tourism Fiji.
The challenge for the industry is… the economy. When the budget is stretched, discretionary spending is the first belt in the household tightened.
The things I like about my job… knowing that every tourist who arrives in Fiji contributes to the employment of Fijians, and therefore is pivotal in increasing the standard of living.
And the frustrations are… the falling Australian dollar.
If I didn’t work in travel I would be… retired!
Favourite airline… some things need to remain a secret…
My proudest moment was… hearing arrivals for Australia are up 6.3% – the largest increase in 6 years.
The naughtiest thing I ever did was… eat a tub of ice-cream a day when I was pregnant with my eldest child.
I try to relax by… what does “relax” mean?
The last time I feared for my life was… when I let my son drive.
If I can, I always try to avoid… mediocrity. If nothing changes – nothing changes.
I really wish I had… finished my degrees, but at the end of the day experience always counts for more than a piece of paper.
The best advice I’ve ever received was… if you want to be the boss, dress like the boss. I’m not sure he would look too good in a skirt and heels though.
I don’t understand why people… don’t explore the other islands in Fiji – there are 333 of them – and they’re all different!
My greatest weakness is… chocolate of course.
And my greatest strength is… independent thought.
If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would… donate to Fishes and Loaves which was started by a guy who won a $1 million lottery!
If I was prime minister I would… don’t start me on politics please!
If I could be someone else for one day I would… be our PM!
I’ve always wanted to travel to… the Lau group of islands in Fiji.
My favourite holiday was… (and still is) Fiji of course.
