This week, we took Liz Manning, responsible business manager at Intrepid Group, for a quick run in the park. Well, technically we were chasing her for an interview, but still.

The challenge for the industry is…

Shifting the misconception that sustainable tourism is a niche product.

The things I like about my job…

Working with diverse and creative people who are incredibly passionate.

And the frustrations are…

Trying to juggle a mix of different projects while not wanting to miss out on opportunitites that come our way!

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…

A veterinarian.

Favourite airline?

Air New Zealand, hands down.

My proudest moment was…

Teaching my nieces and nephew to ski.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…

At 15 I ’borrowed’ my grandmother’s car to drive friends to school during a week-long snow storm. I didn’t have my license.

I try to relax by…

Watching/listening to fierce female stand-up comics (Ali Wong, Chelsea Handler, and Amy Poehler are a few favourites).

The last time I feared for my life was…

On a scenic flight in Namibia that felt more like a roller coaster ride.

If I can, I always try to avoid…

Using the word busy. We’re all busy!

I really wish I had…

Learned how to surf when I was younger.

The best advice I’ve ever received was…

From my dad. If someone’s being really difficult do your best to ‘kill’ them with kindness.

I don’t understand why people…

Stand up the second the plane lands.

My greatest weakness is…

Apologising too much. It’s a common Canadian trait but one I’m trying to overcome.

And my greatest strength is…

Being able to laugh at myself.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…

Set up a fund for families who may not have the means to travel.

If I was prime minister I would…

Try and form a united front with other Heads of State, to take on Trump.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be…

A food critic for the New York Times.

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

Patagonia.

My favourite holiday was…

An overland trip from Cape Town to Victoria Falls. The trip had long travel days but the most incredible experience.
