MSC Cruises’ MSC Magnifica brought a taste of the Mediterranean down under today as she sailed into Sydney Harbour as part of her 120-night World Cruise.
Beginning in Rome and visiting 46 destinations across 21 countries and five continents, MSC Magnifica’s arrival into Australia comes as new data from the European cruise line reveals the Mediterranean is the top destination for Aussie cruise lovers with over 60 per cent of MSC Cruises’ guests choosing to cruise in the region. The Western Mediterranean proves most popular with Barcelona and Rome being the most preferred ports of embarkation by Australian guests.
MSC Magnifica is one of four ships in MSC Cruises’ Musica Class, which offers almost exclusively balcony cabins, enabling guests to take full advantage of their journey’s scenic passage and features the line’s signature elegant European style and design.
The ship also gives the approximately 3,000 guests on board the World Cruise a taste of Europe in its dining options, spoiling travellers for choice in its four gourmet restaurants and 11 bars and lounges.
Guests are also making the most of the carefully brewed espresso and cappuccinos onboard, indulging in a total of around 5,000 coffees a day. Guests are also enjoying a total of 180 freshly baked Italian style pizzas and 25 kilograms of ice cream and gelato per day.
During the epic sailing, MSC Magnifica’s will offer guests the chance to explore the world with their tastebuds by offering a mix of traditional favorites and sumptuous new flavours, with 119 different dinner menus and 12 special gala nights on offer.
With 120 nights at sea, guest entertainment takes centre stage offering more than 1,700 hours of live family entertainment on board including an impressive array of dazzling international new shows and productions.
“We are delighted to welcome MSC Magnifica back to the Southern Hemisphere as part of her 2025 World Cruise,” MSC Cruises vice president International Sales, Antonio Paradiso, said. “The New Zealand and Australian ports are some of the most popular highlights for guests who sail on this ultimate bucket-list voyage, and we are always so impressed by the welcome we receive here.
“MSC Cruises is proudly multicultural with our guests and crew representing 144 different nationalities. In fact, our multilingual crew members are in many cases fluent in up to five languages, amongst them English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian and Chinese.
“The 2025 World Cruise allows us to celebrate the many beautiful destinations our guests and crew call home while showcasing the European hospitality synonymous with the MSC Cruises brand.”
MSC Magnifica will depart Sydney on Saturday at 20:00 for her maiden visit to Eden as part of her 16-day voyage around Australia. Other maiden calls on her Australian leg of the tour include Adelaide, Penneshaw and Albany.
In 2026, MSC Magnifica will return to Australia on her World Cruise, calling at Auckland and Wellington before sailing on to Australia. Bookings for this itinerary are available now.
