Axis Travel, owned by Max Najar, will join the Independent Travel Group with the industry veteran citing the network’s “progressive and innovative” approach as a major drawcard.
Najar said that by joining the group, part of the Express Travel Group, Axis would be able to “maintain our customers’ satisfaction and trust” in the face of daily obstacles. He also referred to the network of “like-minded” members and the groups strong industry partnerships as additional drivers.
“Other important aspects that swayed our decision were the ETG management promise to respect our intellectual property that we have accumulated since 1978 linked with our agency agreeing to subscribe to the ETG “Book Safe Agent” insurance option that affords clients with Supplier and Customer Protection Insurance,” Najar said.
“I have long been an advocate that such insurances should be mandatory not optional, inclusions within ATAS.”

Discussing his decision, Najar shared some insights into his approach to business, stressing that successful relationships are about more than simply making money.
“They are best established and maintained by sincerely respecting human relationships, constructively introducing new ideas, taking calculated risks and working in harmony with other agencies, the management team and our esteemed suppliers to advise and deliver quality travel products under an umbrella of financial securities to our valued clients,” he said.
Meanwhile, Express Travel Group chief executive Tom Manwaring expected Najar to inject his “experience and passion” into the growing network.
“We are delighted to welcome Max and his team aboard, adding further endorsement to our ITG brand positioning as Australia’s largest integrated independent travel agency group,” he said.
There are currently more than 300 agents buying from ITG, general manager sales Jonathan Nelson confirmed.
