Pullman Sydney Penrith and Western Sydney Convention Centre (WSCC) has appointed Charles (Charlie) Young as its new general manager.
Young joins at a pivotal time, as the precinct continues to solidify itself as a world-class global business, conference, and leisure destination, in anticipation of the opening of Western Sydney International (WSI) Airport in 2026.
With over 30 years of experience in hospitality and hotel management, Young brings a wealth of knowledge from diverse international and local markets. He has an in-depth understanding of the region, having most recently served as general manager of the nearby Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains – MGallery Collection. Young has a proven track record in successfully growing established hotels and launching new brands in emerging markets, bringing invaluable expertise and leadership to the role.
Young is excited to spearhead the Pullman Sydney Penrith, operated by Trilogy Hotels, and the WSCC, while collaborating with the owners at Panthers Group.
“What attracted me to Pullman Sydney Penrith and the WSCC is the new life and energy we are infusing into the community,” Young said. “I’m especially looking forward to WSCC becoming a key player in attracting large events and conventions to Penrith, injecting vitality and attention into Western Sydney.”

His focus will be working with the team to continue expanding Pullman Sydney Penrith and the WSCC’s success in the region and accelerating strategic initiatives. This includes collaborating with the local community to set Western Sydney as an entertainment and hospitality destination for international and local visitors to enjoy.
His duties include overseeing the continued development of the 110-million-dollar precinct, which includes the WSCC, Pullman Sydney Penrith – the region’s first 5-star hotel which opened in August 2023, Tori Bar and Cafe on the ground floor, and the elevated Marcel Bar & Bistro, offering a modern European and Australian dining experience.
The hotel features 152 rooms with junior suites available, a cutting-edge wellness and fitness centre and a personalised sleep therapy menu. The WSCC, with its flexible, sophisticated conference spaces spanning over 1,250sqm, can accommodate up to 1,000 seated guests.
