Sydney TAFE and the Exhibitions and Events Association Australasia (EEAA) have joined forces to launch the Excelling in Exhibitions Series which aims to help industry professionals add to their existing knowledge and skills to further their career.
The program features five separate series which target both those new to the industry as well as those with management and executive experience in exhibitions, Sydney TAFE director David Riordan explained.
Each series will be delivered in one weekend workshop followed by additional webinar sessions. The format has been designed to provide “maximum flexibility” so that participants can balance study with their work commitments.
Collaboration has been highlighted as a key pillar of the new program with Sydney TAFE and EEAA to bring together their expertise in the area through a series of specialised “closed sessions”.
“Each series offers a unique opportunity to network and reflect on current practices in the industry. The focus is on nurturing innovation and improving skills that are readily transferred into each business,” Riordan said.
Meanwhile, EEAA chief executive Joyce DiMascio commended Sydney TAFE on the “first” of its kind initiative which she said would help alleviate industry concerns over skills and training in the sector.
“This new program recognises the specific training needed for delivering trade and consumer expos,” she said.
“It comes at a time when Sydney is preparing for the opening of a new exhibition facility at Darling Harbour which is part of the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney). It is an ideal time to be skilling up our industry with exhibition specific courses.”
The five Excelling in Exhibitions Series will take place at Sydney TAFE near Central railway station in the city, commencing on Saturday 30 April 2016.
