Airline updates

Air Tahiti has announced an increase in flight frequencies between Tahiti and Rarotonga, Cook Islands, from 29 June 2025. Two additional weekly rotations will be offered until the end of the year, with four flights per week. This increased service is designed to offer travellers greater flexibility and choice between these two Polynesian archipelagos.

Air Moana has launched its new Premium Class “Poe Premium” (Pearl), offering a unique, top-of-the-range flying experience in ATR. The new class features 12 reclining leather seats with 39 inches of legroom. Passengers can enjoy exclusive services such as a personalised welcome, enhanced baggage allowance, and catering inspired by local flavours.

New cruise itineraries and tours

Aranoa, a new mixed cargo ship operated by cruise company Aranui, sets sail for the remote Austral Islands in the first half of 2027. With its 93 cabins, including 62 with balconies, the Aranoa accommodates up to 198 passengers while carrying freight. Passengers can enjoy 2 restaurants, 2 bars, 2 whirlpools with ocean views and a boutique. As bookings are made two years in advance, Aranui Cruises has indicated that precise itineraries and fares will be unveiled in June 2025.

Apetahi Express continues to expand with a new route from the capital to the Tahitian Peninsula, Tahiti-iti. This new, fast and convenient route to Taiarapu allows passengers to discover this natural jewel as wild and authentic as the remote islands, just 50 km from Papeete. When arriving in Tahiti-iti, travellers will have the opportunity to make their way to the famous surf spot, Teahupoo.

In keeping with the philosophy of PONANT and the PONANT EXPLORERS, Le Jacques-Cartier is a modern ship with slender, tapered lines, environmentally friendly and equipped with innovative technology. The new ship will take travellers to some of the most remote and lesser-known islands in The Islands of Tahiti, such as the Marquesas, Tuamotus and Austral islands.

New accommodation

Located in Teavaro on Moorea’s east coast, Villa Tohora is a seaside property ideal for a dream vacation, accommodating up to 10 guests. It includes 5 air-conditioned bedrooms with private bathrooms, direct access to the lagoon, a private swimming pool, kayaks and bikes to explore the neighbouring area, and personalised services with a private chef. During whale watching season, this is the perfect spot to spot them from the villa.

The island of Manihi is often referred to as the ‘Bora Bora of the Tuamotu Archipelago’, promising a true French Polynesian experience. The new Manihi Miki Lodge, with only six spacious bungalows, is a haven of peace for all visitors. Manihi Atoll is also renowned for its exceptional seabed, where you can scuba dive and observe manta rays, barracudas and groupers.

New tours

Nordhoff Adventure offers unique guided tours on Tahiti, providing a complete immersion into the island’s natural and cultural beauty. They offer both private and shared packages, whether it’s to go looking for waterfalls, sample the best produce at the markets, or dive deep into the history and culture at places of worship – the team tailors an itinerary filled with magical moments.

AtunuMai offers an authentic culinary experience in a traditional Polynesian home on Moorea. The course combines hands-on learning, cultural stories and warm hospitality, where the guests will try their hand at preparing local dishes such as poisson cru made with raw fish and fresh coconut milk, using seasonal ingredients from the garden. Surrounded by tropical beauty, it’s a delicious journey into the heart of Polynesian life.

Get up close and personal with whales and dolphins on the sister islands of Taha’a and Raiatea during the new Blue Dream Xperience tour, which is an authorised whale watching operator on these two islands. Travellers can enjoy a day of admiring the ocean creatures in a calm and gentle atmosphere, followed by a gourmet lunch on a secluded motu. Alternatively, the team can bring the group to a prime location for a romantic sunset on the island of Bora Bora.

Travellers can embark on a journey through Bora Bora in a 9-seater air-conditioned minivan and enjoy an immersive and authentic experience. Discover the island’s hidden gems, breathtaking viewpoints, and historical sites that make Bora Bora a true jewel of the Pacific. The tour is a complete island loop of Bora Bora in approximately 2.5 hours, with several strategic stops to admire the stunning scenery, capture beautiful photos, and learn about the island’s fascinating history.

They can also dive into a refreshing adventure through the natural slides of Vainavenave with a professional guide, Arnaud from Natura Exploration. Discover lush landscapes, exceptional flora and fauna and enjoy a unique view of Tahiti’s highest peak. For the more adventurous, there are jumps available, and you can even spot freshwater eels.
