Niseko Village in Japan is entering a new era with major accommodation and infrastructure upgrades set to enhance one of Asia’s most sought-after ski destinations.
With Australia’s ski season winding down, travellers are already looking north in search of their next powder fix.
The destination will debut the Moxy Niseko Village hotel and a new eight‑person Mori‑no Gondola in the third quarter of 2026 and December 2026, respectively.
The new 310-room, five-storey hotel will bring Marriott’s Moxy brand to Hokkaido for the first time, offering a vibrant base for younger, social and adventure-driven travellers. Guests can expect tech-forward rooms, flexible communal spaces, a Moxy Bar and a buzzy terrace overlooking Mount Yōtei, creating an atmosphere that blends skiing with après culture and social connection.
The hotel sits directly beside the Niseko Village Gondola.
The eight‑person Mori‑no Gondola will replace the long‑serving chairlift and significantly boosting mountain capacity. The upgrade will double uplift from the base, deliver a smoother all‑weather ride in enclosed cabins and introduce VIP and glass‑floor options for elevated views of the snow‑covered landscape. Stage one will link the base to the intermediate station from Winter 2026, with full summit access arriving in 2027.
Niseko Village sits at the base of Mount Niseko Annupuri in Hokkaido. Niseko’s appeal extends beyond the slopes. The destination is home to hotels, traditional onsen experiences, world-class dining, snow activities and a vibrant village hub that keeps guests entertained long after the lifts close.
