Guests staying at any Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide will now enjoy free Wi-Fi, regardless of booking method or loyalty programme membership, effective immediately.

Furthermore, Hyatt guests will be able to connect to the free internet on an unlimited number of devices in guest rooms and social quarters, however, it does not extend to meeting rooms where bandwidth demand varies by the number of event attendees.

“Internet connectivity is no longer an amenity. It has become an integral part of travellers’ daily lives and a basic expectation,” Hyatt, vice president of brands. Kristine Rose said.

“Travellers shouldn’t have to remember which brands or locations offer it for free or the strings attached to get it.”

Previously, Hyatt hotels across many brands have long offered Wi-Fi at no charge to guests in several of its brands and to elite members of the Hyatt Gold Passport loyalty program, the new extension to its policy has been described as part of the group’s ongoing focus on guest experience.

“Today, people consider smartphones just as important as their car, and more important than television or coffee. Travellers feel out of sync with their lives when they can’t freely connect,” Rose said.

Under the new rules, Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond and Platinum tier members will receive a complimentary upgrade to premium Wi-Fi service.
