Novotel Cairns Oasis has won gold in the 4 to 4.5 Star Deluxe Accommodation category at the 2025 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, held over the weekend in Fremantle, Western Australia.
This prestigious national award recognises excellence across Australia’s tourism industry and follows the resort’s gold win at the Queensland Tourism Awards, where it progressed to compete on the national stage after previously securing Bronze in the same category in 2024.
The 314-room, 4.5-star tropical resort has been recognised for its outstanding guest experience, service excellence, and strong commitment to sustainable tourism practices.
Accepting the award on the night, Accor – Shakespeare Property Group general manager Michael Daviss acknowledged the dedication of the resort team and the strength of the partnership behind the property.
“This award reflects the incredible passion and commitment of our entire team in Cairns, whose dedication to exceptional guest experiences continues to set the benchmark in our category,” Daviss said. “We are also grateful for the ongoing strategic guidance of Accor and the support of the property’s owners, Shakespeare Property Group, whose partnership helps drive our vision and success.”
General manager Shelly Cuthbertson said the national recognition was a proud milestone for the resort and its team.
“Winning Gold at the Australian Tourism Awards is an extraordinary honour and a testament to the dedication of our team and the support of our partners and guests,” Cuthbertson said. “We are incredibly proud to represent Cairns and Tropical North Queensland on the national stage.
“Our team works hard to deliver exceptional guest experiences while embracing sustainability and community connection, which are central to the Novotel brand and our resort culture.”
