Ong Wee Min is the Vice President of Sales & MICE at Marina Bay Sands, where he leads the resort’s sales strategy across business events, leisure and hospitality.
With extensive experience in the luxury and hospitality sectors, he is key to insuring Marina Bay Sands’ reputation as a world-class integrated resort.
Ahead of the Travel Weekly Luxury Roadshow we caught up with Min to talk about building a global brand and what’s in the pipeline for the year ahead.
What is the key to building a globally recognised luxury brand?
Product, design and service are fundamental to our brand of luxury hospitality.
In recent years, we embarked on a US$1.75 billion transformation, launching new rooms and suites across The Sands Collection and The Paiza Collection. Design excellence – where form and function go hand in hand – integral to this transformation.
The Paiza Collection is serviced round the clock by a team of 160 butlers – one of the largest teams in the world – providing personalised service to guests from arrival till departure.
What are your fastest-growing offerings right now?
As the hotel renovation nears completion, our new rooms and suites continue to see strong demand, with an average occupancy of 95 per cent throughout 2024.
The Paiza Collection, designed for our most distinguished guests, was completed in November 2023. It offers:
Two-bedroom Presidential Suite – With the option of a golf simulator, media room, or other lifestyle features.
One-bedroom Paiza Premier Suite – Featuring a cocktail trolley stocked with Marina Bay Sands’ own cocktails, perfect for entertaining.
What new attractions can we expect in 2025?
January 2025 – Relaunch of SkyPark Observation Deck, redesigned to tell a greater Singapore story. The new exhibition showcases the development of Marina Bay and includes interactive elements to engage guests.
February 2025 – Opening of ArtScience Laboratory at ArtScience Museum, a learning space where art, science, and technology converge.
Q2 2025 – Completion of all new rooms and suites.
Summer 2025 – Opening of Jin Ting Wan, a new Cantonese fine dining restaurant.
How do you keep a feeling of exclusivity within your offering?
At Marina Bay Sands, with approximately 1,850 hotel rooms, we focus on personalised service – from greeting guests by name to arranging surprises for special occasions.
Our Butler Services team is trained to global luxury standards, anticipating guests’ needs and delivering unprecedented levels of care and attention.
For our most discerning guests, we offer exclusive spaces for privacy and comfort:
Paiza VIP Arrival Lobby – A private arrival experience with dedicated lifts to suites.
Paiza Sky Residence (55th level) – An executive club lounge offering panoramic views, all-day dining, and premium drinks.
