KAYAK has announced the debut of the travel search engine’s first hotel, KAYAK Miami Beach.
The hotel will serve as a behind-the-scenes design lab for KAYAK to build and refine its accommodation technology to reimagine hotel operations and the guest experience for the new travel era.
KAYAK Miami Beach has been launched in partnership with hotel brand and management company Life House.
The property has been integrated with KAYAK’s Trips feature so guests can connect their inbox, receive real-time alerts, and more easily organise, manage and share their itinerary.
At the hotel, guests will experience amenities like Apple TVs and Marshall speakers in every room, contactless check-in, in-app messaging with 24/7 access to hotel staff, and room and property alerts.
Located in Miami Beach’s cultural hub of Collins Park and housed in a 1934 landmark art-deco building, the hotel’s design draws inspiration from the local Streamline Moderne architecture.
A wrap-around public rooftop area contains the modern Middle Eastern bar and restaurant concept Layla, which is powered by KAYAK’s sister brand, OpenTable.
KAYAK chief executive Steve Hafner said: “We see a big opportunity to apply our audience and technology to the accommodations space to level the playing field for independent hotels.
“Our Miami Beach property will serve as our hotel design lab and deepen our knowledge of hospitality and showcase our growing capabilities.”
KAYAK has signalled that it will explore additional locations to help refine its software for different property sizes and types.
