In this opinion piece, Belle Goldie, owner of The Cruise & Travel Store, writes on why now is the time to be supporting the US.

There’s something magnetic about the United States – a vast, diverse country that feels both familiar and full of surprises. From neon-lit cities and epic road trips to serene national parks and deep-rooted culture, the USA offers travellers a unique blend of adventure and accessibility. And after years of on-and-off restrictions, now is the perfect time to rediscover what makes it so special.

For Australians, the USA has always been a top destination – and for good reason. Where else can you ski in Colorado one week, eat gumbo in New Orleans the next, and spend a few days exploring California’s coast and wine country? The range of experiences is unmatched, offering something for families, couples, and solo travellers alike.

One of the most common concerns I hear is around entry and paperwork, but crossing the border was refreshingly easy. With the right documentation in hand (valid ESTA and proof of onward travel), the process was smooth and efficient. US border officers were welcoming and professional, and we were on our way in no time.

Our recent visit to Anaheim was a perfect example of how smooth and special a trip to the U.S. can be. We stayed at the beautifully appointed Westin Anaheim, which was the perfect base for Disneyland adventures. One of the highlights? Dining at the ultra-exclusive Club 33 inside Disneyland – a once-in-a-lifetime experience that blended history, luxury, and a little bit of Disney magic. From the moment we landed, everything was seamless, including our airport pickup with Karmel Shuttle, who delivered friendly, reliable service.

There is no better time to visit the US than now, says Belle Goldie

The beauty of travelling to the US today is how easily it caters to any travel style. Want natural beauty? Head to the Grand Canyon, Yosemite or the Great Smoky Mountains. Love food and culture? Cities like Chicago, Austin and Charleston will exceed every expectation. And for families, theme parks in California or Florida deliver that unbeatable mix of fun and fantasy.

Local tourism operators are going above and beyond to welcome international visitors back, with improved services, cleaner accommodations, and more flexible travel options. Each state feels like its own destination, and that’s what makes the USA so compelling. Whether you’re planning a girls’ shopping trip to Los Angeles, a wine-tasting escape in Napa, or a scenic drive along the Pacific Coast Highway, the US delivers.

So, if you’ve been thinking about heading stateside again – or for the very first time – take this as your sign. Flights are accessible, the border process is straightforward, and the country is more ready than ever to welcome you with open arms.
