A woman has died on a Qantas flight travelling from London to Sydney this morning.
A Qantas spokesperson has confirmed the QF2 flight was diverted to Adelaide due to a medical emergency on Friday morning.
News Corp reports a witness on board the flight said the incident occurred around 3:00 am after a cabin announcement asked if there were any doctors on board.
The witness told News Corp that two people began frantically trying to help the woman, assisted by almost the entire flight’s cabin crew.
The Qantas spokesperson also confirmed a doctor on board the flight tried to help Qantas crew members resuscitate the woman.
“Our crew did everything they could, including helping perform CPR with a doctor who was on board, but unfortunately the passenger has passed away,” the Qantas spokesperson said.
“Our thoughts are with the passenger’s family.”
Qantas was unable to provide further details due to passenger privacy regulations and the sensitive nature of the issue.
According to News.com.au, a statement from SAPOL said they would be preparing a report for the coroner:
“At 3.30am on Friday 29 June, police were advised that a plane bound for Sydney was diverted to Adelaide, following the death of a woman from New South Wales.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
