On top of its US$85 million (AU$150m) transformation, Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort’s new Coral Kids Club provides an engaging activity centre for kids.
Designed for keiki (children), ages 5-12, the activity centre offers daily cultural workshops with hands-on activities rooted around the Āina Guardian workbook. It was developed by Candes Gentry, co-author of Eat Pono. The step-by-step guidebook celebrates sustainable practices, the Hawaiian culture, and teaches children how they can protect oceans.
Coral Kids Club participants also have the exclusive opportunity to join Outrigger area director of cultural experience, Luana Maitland in the A‘o Cultural Center for lei making, hula lessons and other traditional Hawaiian crafts.
All of these as part of the Outrigger Zone initiative, a conservation initiative that serves to provide enriching experiences to guests, hosts and local communities; as well as to ensure that properties actively do their part to protect oceans and help them to thrive for generations to come.
“It is an absolute joy to have a dedicated space on-property where keiki can come to learn and explore through doing,” said Maitland.
“The Coral Kids Club will allow kids to make memories and friends while providing meaningful and intentional programming for visitors and kama‘āina alike.”
