Perth Airport opened the gates to a new domestic terminal on the weekend, with the development set to improve access to MICE services in regional Western Australia.

Marking the end to an 18 month construction period, the $120 million development is the first new terminal to be build at Perth Airport in 26 years.

Currently operating at only 30% capacity, the terminal will soon become home to Skywest before Alliance Airlines and Tiger Airways move-in in May.

Airport chief executive Brad Geatches said the new terminal comes at a time of “strong growth” in aviation activity to regional Western Australia.

“The location of terminal two will immediately improve the travel experience for people in regional Western Australia, as they will now be able to connect through to international services in one convenient location,” he said.

The new terminal features 14 aircraft gates, three baggage reclaim belts and 16 check-in counters.
