Gate 7 will expand its existing work with the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau as interest in the state continues to grow, ahead of both the United States’ 250th anniversary celebration and FIFA World Cup in 2026.

Gate 7 has worked closely with the Philadelphia CVB since 2017 in a tourism development and trade marketing capacity, leveraging extensive travel industry knowledge and experience to promote the City of Brotherly Love to Australians.

The expanded remit will see Gate 7 managing PR, including media engagement, familiarisation programs and its press office.

Historically rich and progressive by nature, Philadelphia offers a diverse array of experiences for Australian travellers, and is an essential stop on any east coast road trip – conveniently located midway between New York City and Washington, D.C.

Whether you’re a history buff interested in exploring the landmarks that define the birthplace of the United States and America’s ‘most historic square mile’, or a foodie wanting to devour everything from the city’s iconic cheesesteaks to internationally-acclaimed fine dining – there is something for everyone.

Philadelphia offers the historic charm, walkable neighbourhoods and diverse cultural attractions that visitors value, along with big-city amenities such as four-star hotels, world renowned museums and five professional sports teams.

Gate 7’s appointment comes as Philadelphia warms up for a landmark year in 2026, where America’s founding city will play a major role in both the 250th anniversary of the United States, and as a host city for the FIFA World Cup 2026TM. Philly will be at the heart of the U.S.’s semiquincentennial celebrations, with a year-long calendar of events highlighting the significance of this historic milestone.

This will include a FIFA World Cup 2026TM Round of 16 showdown taking place on Saturday, 4 July 2026 at Lincoln Financial Field – Home of the Philadelphia Eagles – exactly 250 years since the Declaration of Independence was signed in Philadelphia.

Jo Palmer, founder and managing director at Gate 7, said: “The Philadelphia CVB has been a valued partner of Gate 7 for many years, and we are excited to be taking on this new challenge.

“As air lift to the east cost of the U.S. continues to expand with more direct flights than ever, it’s the perfect time for Aussies to start thinking about a trip to Philly!”

Svetlana Yazovskikh, vice president of global tourism at Philadelphia CVB, said: “We’re thrilled to be expanding our long-running partnership with the team at Gate 7 in the Australian market.

“According to Tourism Economics, Philadelphia is projected to see significant tourism gains from the Australian market in 2024, including a 34 per cent increase in visitation, a 55 per cent increase in room nights, and a 62 per cent increase in direct spending.

“Gate 7’s proven track record in tourism development has laid a solid foundation for Australian travel to Philadelphia, and we’re looking forward to how this new function will continue to lift the city’s profile down under.”
