PONANT has restarted its Aussie operations with the Kimberley 2022 expedition season.

The news follows the highly anticipated decision from the Western Australia state government to welcome small interstate and international expedition ships with a maximum of 350 persons to its waters.

With operations resuming today, PONANT will offer multiple departures between April and October including two new departure dates for its enormously popular 10-night ‘Australia’s Iconic Kimberley’ between Broome and Darwin, showcasing the wild and grandiose landscapes of the Kimberley onboard small luxury expedition ship Le Soléal.

PONANT general manager sales and marketing Asia Pacific Deb Corbett said the announcement to welcome ships to Australian waters is incredibly exciting following a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19.

“We’ve been anticipating this announcement for many months and have been working behind the scenes to ensure we are ready to set sail for the magnificent Kimberley as soon as possible,” Corbett said.

“Australia’s Kimberley is one of the greatest wonders of our country, with such grandeur and majestic beauty; it’s certainly an absolute bucket list destination for both Australians and international tourists and we look forward to sharing it again to those whose travel plans have been put on hold for the past two seasons.”

Highlights on the itinerary include visiting the Hunter River inhabited estuarine crocodiles; discovering the King George River on a Zodiac® excursion and reaching the majestic Twin Falls, the highest in Western Australia; and a visit to Collier Bay to explore Montgomery reef.

Sailing along one of the most spectacular coasts in Australia, the Kimberley’s falls, savannah, and tidal phenomena promise never to disappoint.
