The president of one of the world’s most intriguing nations is coming to speak at Travel DAZE.
The travel industry’s biggest and best conference just got a bit better. Surangel Whipps Jr, President of Palau, is coming to Cairns to present a keynote address at Travel DAZE.
Hailing from one of the world’s second smallest democracy and one of most geographically remote destinations on earth, President Whipps will address the importance of sustainability in travel.
The nation of Palau stands on the precipice of climate change. The entire country is a shark sanctuary, rising sea levels endanger the communities living on land and increased water temperatures have wiped out the country’s premier tourist attraction, Jellyfish Lake.
During his session at Travel DAZE, President Whipps will also discuss the impact of the globally renowned award-winning campaign, The Palau Pledge, in which the tiny nation partnered with an Australian advertising agency to ban harmful sunscreen from the country entirely due to the decimation of its reefs.
Travel DAZE will run from May 13-14, 2025 in Cairns with tickets still available. Get in quick to avoid disappointment!
