The Qantas Group (Qantas and Jetstar) has added nearly 1,500 extra seats on flights to and from Launceston to help fans get the Foo Fighters concert next month.

The extra capacity from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane includes six additional QantasLink flights to Launceston, with Jetstar also adding more low-cost return seats by adding bigger aircraft on existing services.

Tickets for the 24 January concert officially go on sale today, with thousands of fans from across the country expected to book flights to Tassie for what will be one of the biggest travel weekends for the state in years, coinciding with the Australia Day public holiday on Monday 26 January.

The additional QantasLink flights are scheduled between 23 January 2026 and 26 January 2026, and include:

  • 2 flights between Melbourne and Launceston
  • 2 flights between Brisbane and Launceston
  • 2 flights between Sydney and Launceston

Hundreds of seats are also available on QantasLink flights to Devonport and Burnie, a short drive from Launceston.

The additional seats are now available to book. Qantas and Jetstar will continue to closely monitor demand and may look to add further capacity if needed.

“The January long weekend is already one of the busiest travel periods for Tasmania so it’s Times Like These that we need to add flights to help fans,” Qantas Domestic CEO Markus Svensson said.

“As soon as the concert was announced last week we saw a spike in bookings and we know more fans will want to lock in their travel when they secure event tickets.

“The extra services will give thousands of interstate fans more options to reach Tasmania, with extra capacity added on flights from cities across the country. As always, the lowest fares will go quickly, so we encourage customers to book early.”

Classic Flight Reward seats are still available on flights to Launceston and Frequent Flyers can use their Qantas points to book.
