Qantas has rolled out a major international expansion, launching two new routes from Perth while announcing the return of overseas services from the Gold Coast for the first time in nearly five years.

Released yesterday, the airline confirmed that Perth has officially welcomed its first direct connection to New Zealand, with QF112 touching down from Auckland early in the day. The new service establishes a faster trans-Tasman link for travellers heading between WA and New Zealand.

Hours later, Perth marked another milestone as QF65 departed for Johannesburg, opening a direct corridor between Western Australia and South Africa and further cementing the city’s role as a key long-haul hub for the national carrier.

In a separate network boost, Qantas also revealed the reinstatement of international flying from the Gold Coast. Direct Gold Coast–Auckland services are now on sale and set to take off in June 2026, delivering more than 52,000 seats each year across the Tasman.

The move is expected to significantly bolster two-way tourism, reconnecting the Gold Coast with international markets and expanding Qantas’ presence across both ends of Australia’s east and west coasts.
