Qantas confirms Norfolk Island flights for summer

Qantas will continue to connect Norfolk Island to mainland Australia over the peak summer holiday period, extending its current services until 5 February 2023.

Qantas has been operating flights to Norfolk Island since January 2021 as part of a contract with the Federal Government to maintain passenger and freight links.

An extension of the contract will see Qantas continue to operate six flights per week to the Australian territory, three flights from Sydney and three from Brisbane.

“We’re pleased to confirm that we are extending our Norfolk Island flights through to the end of the summer holidays, offering direct connections from Brisbane and Sydney,” a Qantas spokesperson said.

“These flights mean we can maintain an important link to the mainland for people and freight, and give confidence to travellers and families to book their travel to the beautiful South Pacific destination over the peak period.”

The flights will be operated by Qantas’ Boeing 737 aircraft, offering 2,000 seats across the routes each week as well as belly space for freight.

Flights depart and arrive from the International Terminals in Sydney and Brisbane with a flight time of two and a half hours from Sydney and around two hours from Brisbane.

An Australian Government tender process for long-term air passenger services to Norfolk Island is ongoing.
