The Australian Open Tennis Championships are a highlight on the events calendar for many dedicated tennis followers, including regular clients of TravelManagers’ Robbie Barrett.
Hailing from Dubbo in New South Wales, Robbie was this year given the opportunity to experience the event for herself, after she topped the charts in the top travel agency sellers of Qantas Holidays/Viva Holidays tennis package.
The prize package, hosted by Qantas Holidays, saw Robbie fly return to Melbourne, stay for a night, enjoy the men’s quarterfinals and devour a hosted meal.
Robbie decided to make the most of this amazing opportunity and extended her stay so that she and her husband could attend the Men’s Semi Finals.
“I have some regular clients that travel to the tennis each year and once the details of the next year’s arrangements are available I contact them with the details”, Robbie said.
“This year they took another couple with them; those clients then referred me to some other friends, who in turn referred to me more family members, who all booked packages.”
“I enjoy watching the tennis and become totally absorbed in the TV coverage so it was such a thrill to see it in person for the first time.”
In total, nine lucky agents from around Australia were escorted by three Qantas Holidays representatives.
TravelManagers’ GM Michael Gazal said it was a well-deserved reward for the winners.
“These agents were the top performers for Qantas Holidays, so it’s fitting that they have the opportunity to experience the tennis themselves,” he said.
“Next year they’ll be even more enthused about selling to their clients.”
