Aviation veteran Alison Webster as resigned as CEO of Qantas International after less than 18 months in the role.
The Qantas Group announced Webster’s resignation in a statement to shareholders this morning, with her last day being 24 April 2019.
Effective immediately, Narendra Kumar, who is the former CFO of Qantas International and is currently overseeing planning for changes to the airline’s long-haul fleet, will act in the CEO role until a permanent appointment is made.
Webster was appointed to the top job at Qantas International in November 2017, and has held a variety of senior leadership roles in the Qantas Group over the past decade.
Prior to her current role, Webster was the airline’s executive manager of freight and catering, with Australian airports added to her responsibilities in March 2017.
Before joining Qantas in 2004, Alison held a range of senior positions at British Airways in both Australia and the UK across sales, marketing and brand management.
